The Challenge
Our client needed to understand mid-market commercial businesses across their territories to redevelop their insurance and risk management proposition
Their insurances are sold via brokers or agents and research in the past had focused on intermediaries rather than the end-client
This project was commission in the middle of the Covid crisis in late 2020 (and post Brexit in the UK) so it was a time of changing challenges, opportunities and needs
Our client needed to look at the differences across specific industry sectors that were in their risk appetite and across 5 very different regions/countries to understand the differences and similarities
Our approach
We ran an online quantitative survey of 1300+ businesses within specific target industries across Europe, USA, AUSPAC and Asia.
Each region had a slightly different definition of their target market in terms of both industry sector and size (mid-corporate or SMEs) & a different focus
This meant a comprehensive & careful immersion session and close working with the various client stakeholders was needed. In addition, the questionnaire had to be tailored & well-routed.
Previous research/surveys the client had conducted in other regions needed to be brought into the final reporting
The outcome
This research gave a comprehensive detailed deep-dive insight into this market, seeing the current pandemic and the business challenges ahead through their potential end-clients’ eyes.
It has allowed each of the 4 regions to develop tailored propositions for both insurance and risk management for their target audiences
It also gave insight to the broker business development teams to show a deeper understanding of their clients and aid promotion and communications
