Obesity Health Alliance – Childhood Obesity Survey, June 2019

Nearly nine in ten adults in Great Britain (86%) say they agree that childhood obesity is a serious problem in the UK and seven in ten (69%) say they agree that the new Prime Minister should continue to prioritise reducing childhood obesity.

Nearly nine in ten adults in Great Britain (86%) say they agree that childhood obesity is a serious problem in the UK.
Four in five adults in Great Britain (80%) say they agree that they are worried about the impact of obesity on NHS resources.
When asked if they agree or disagree if they are supportive of government action to reduce levels of childhood obesity in the UK, three quarters of adults in Great Britain (76%) say they agree.
Seven in ten adults in Great Britain (69%) say they agree that the new Prime Minister should continue to prioritise reducing childhood obesity in the UK.
When asked if they agree or disagree whether it is not the Government’s responsibility to reduce childhood obesity in the UK, adults in Great Britain are evenly divided – just under half say they agree (45%) and say they disagree (46%).
Half of adults in Great Britain (51%) disagree that policies designed to make products healthier restrict their freedom to choose what they want to eat and drink.

Methodology

ComRes interviewed 2,058 adults in Great Britain aged 18+ online between 19th and 20th June 2019. Data were weighted to be demographically representative of all adults in Great Britain by key demographics, including age, gender, region and social grade.
