Survey of British adults on behalf of the Centre for Policy Studies on the general public’s opinions on the NHS and its future.
  • There is a broad consensus that the NHS cannot carry on as it is, but there is no clear agreement on how to help the NHS overcome its problems. Half of the public (53%) say that extra funding will not solve the problems and a third (35%) say that extra funding will solve the NHS’s problems.
  • Reflecting these concerns, a majority (61%) of the British public support the idea of a Royal Commission into the future of the NHS.

Methodology

ComRes interviewed 2,051 adults living in Great Britain online between 15th and 16th February 2017. Data were weighted by gender, age, region and socio-economic grade to be representative of Great Britain as a whole. These results should be taken as indicative rather than representative.
