Survey of British adults about “beautiful qualities” in friends, parents and partners
- Being loyal is the most beautiful quality in a friend according to the British public. Two thirds of Britons (69%) say that it is one of the two most important beautiful qualities in a friend – significantly ahead of caring, which came in second place with 34%.
- When it comes to parents and partners, caring is considered the most beautiful quality – 58% list it as one of the two most important beautiful qualities in a parent and 59% in a partner.
- Generally, there was less unanimity about what makes a beautiful quality in a parent than in partners or friends – although caring came top with 58%, 41% said “encouraging” and 37% said “patient”. Indeed, patience is thought more important in a parent (37%) than in a partner (24%), and even less so in a friend (9%).
- Just one in seven (15%) say being physically attractive is one of the two most beautiful qualities in a partner – although men (23%) are nearly three times as likely as women (8%) to say think this.
