Policy assessment

Our research has helped this trade association to monitor its performance in both Houses for over a decade, and effectively advance its policy agenda.

Background

Our client is a UK trade association with hundreds of members. Every year since 2011, our client has used our industry-leading MPs Panel and Peers Panel surveys to understand the opinions of at least 100 MPs and 100 Peers.

The Challenge

Our client needed to effectively measure its reputation in parliament relative to its comparators, in order to allow the organisation to understand the effectiveness of its activity, and engage and lobby effectively.

Also important to our client was to assess parliamentary opinion towards its policy priorities, so that they could most successfully put forward their positions relating to major policy issues.

Our approach

We utilised our MPs Panel and Peers Panel surveys, as the large sample size would guarantee an accurate picture of attitudes.

Every wave, we track key reputation metrics and policy positions, to measure how our client and their priorities are perceived. Occasionally, we have followed-up surveys with qualitative in-depth interviews with legislators, to explore subjects of particular interest in more detail.

The outcome

Our research has helped this trade association to monitor its performance in both Houses for over a decade, and effectively advance its policy agenda.

By combining qualitative and quantitative insight, we have helped our client to improve the effectiveness of their parliamentary engagement, by allowing them to understand how their messages can best cut-through with MPs and Peers across all major parties.
