ComRes / ITV News Index: Three quarters support using foreign aid budget on flooding

 

Three quarters of Britons think the UK's foreign aid budget should be diverted towards dealing with flooding in Somerset, according to an ITV News Index poll carried out by ComRes.

It also found that out of 2,013 adults surveyed:

• 50% think that problems with Britain’s flood defences are probably a result of the Government’s programme of spending cuts.
• 23% think that the Government is doing enough to help with the flooding in Somerset by providing the armed forces and £150m of funding over the next two years.
• 44% think the Government is not doing enough.
• 79% of people that there should be an immediate halt on new homes built on flood plains, even if there is a chance this will increase property prices

 

ComRes interviewed 2,013 British adults online between 7^th and 9^th February 2014. Data were weighted to be demographically representative of all GB adults aged 18+. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
