Increasing numbers don’t think the government is doing enough to support the NHS

Government approval (48%) is at its lowest level for a week.
Two in five people don’t believe the government is doing enough to support the NHS – a 10 point rise in two days
A similar number (41%) don’t think the government is doing enough to support the self-employed or small businesses (40%). In the case of small businesses, this figure has also increased 10 points over the last couple of days.
People telling us that their disposable income has decreased is also at its highest level yet at 44%. This includes half (49%) of 16-34s and 35-54s (50%).
Just one in five (22%) told us yesterday that their work requires them to attend their regular place of employment, which is the lowest figure we’ve seen. More than half (54%) are now working from home when they wouldn’t ordinarily, and that has been consistently around the 50% mark for eight days.
Number of empty shelves decreasing
In terms of grocery shopping, we are now seeing around a quarter (24% yesterday) of those who leave the house saying that they are visiting the supermarket.
Throughout the tracking, those that did go to the supermarket are still buying more than usual to stock up, with nearly three in ten (29%) saying that yesterday – our highest figure this week. One in five (20%) supermarket goers also report not seeing any empty shelves for the second day in a row.
We continue to follow government advice
There’s no significant drop in those mostly or entirely following the government’s advice. While it has dropped 3 points since the weekend, it remains high (82%).

We’re also seeing a slow decline in the number of people getting their news from the television. This could be because there have been no announcements regarding major changes to our day-to-day lives for a couple of weeks; we aren’t seeing massive rises in people using other news sources such as news websites and social media.
