The Royal College of Nursing Directors Survey

A survey of Directors and Deputy Directors of Nursing across the UK on behalf of the RCN exploring topics around the impact of Brexit on the nursing workforce and safe staffing.

• Four in five (82%) Directors and Deputy Directors of Nursing say their organisation runs on the goodwill of staff to keep services running, however approaching three in five (57%) report staff wellbeing to have become worse in the last two years.
• Nine in ten (90%) Directors and Deputy Directors of Nursing are concerned about recruiting new staff and approaching nine in ten (87%) are concerned about overall vacancy rates.
• Approaching nine in ten (86%) Directors and Deputy Directors of Nursing agree nurses recruited from EU countries are essential for the proper functioning of NHS services across the UK, and three in five (59%) say they’ve recruited non-UK EU staff to fill staffing gaps.
