Royal Pharmaceutical Society Hand Washing Survey August 2017

A survey of GB adults on behalf of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society around antibiotic resistance and hand washing.

  • Two thirds of British adults don’t always wash their hands before eating (65%).
  • Half of British adults  don’t always wash their hands after handling animals such as pets (50%).
  • A third of British adults  don’t always wash their hands before preparing food (32%).
  • A fifth (21%) of British adults don’t always wash their hands after going to the toilet (21%).

Methodology

ComRes interviewed 2,002 British adults online between 9th and 10th August 2017. Data were weighted by age, gender, region and socio-economic grade to be demographically representative of all British adults. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
