Savanta, the leading brand and market research agency, today (11 January 2024) announces the hire of a new External Communications Director to bolster its public relations ranks ahead of an upcoming UK General Election.

Richard Brooks joins from Portland Communications where he served as a Senior Consultant, Corporate Communications in a client-facing role for almost four years.

He will now work in-house, joining Savanta’s growing marketing team and coordinating communications activity across the business. Brooks’ role will be to grow Savanta’s brand and coverage for its political work as well as the many other sectors in which Savanta conducts its research in the UK, Americas, Europe and Asia.

Commenting on his new role, Brooks says, “I am delighted to be joining such an exciting and fast-growing organisation. Savanta has shown itself to be a trusted voice in the world of politics and political polling since its acquisition of ComRes, and I hope to be able to build and develop that voice further in many other sectors with the help of a dynamic, curious and dedicated team.”

During his time at Portland, Brooks advised FTSE 100 companies and high-profile organisations through major strategic moments and reputational crises. Prior to joining Portland, Brooks was head of communications for a member organisation of the People’s Vote campaign and was previously elected Vice President at the National Union of Students.

Savanta Global CEO, Roger Perowne comments, “I am delighted to welcome Richard to the Savanta team. He joins at an exciting time where his knowledge, expertise and experience will be invaluable in what the media are calling the biggest global election year in history.”
