The Consumer Compass is a quarterly European report produced by Savanta to track consumer confidence.

The report provides you not only a snapshot of today’s consumers behaviours, habits, knowledge and awareness – but also to help you to understand how they’ll behave tomorrow.

Savanta’s Consumer Compass report provides a monthly briefing on consumer confidence across Europe, to provide brands and retailers with insights on how changing consumer attitudes and expectations impact their spending behaviour and intentions.

This quarter’s Consumer Compass reveals that overall consumer confidence is heading in the right direction, driven by consumers’ optimism for the future despite current challenges in individual markets.

While spending behaviours and intentions remain largely unchanged from Q1, the recovery in consumer confidence, and expectations for improved personal finances, job situations and disposable income could help to boost spending in the months ahead.

In this edition, we also investigated the impact of new technologies on how consumers make purchases, and their appetite for more, uncovering three main points:

  1. Self-service may have reached saturation, with usage remaining stable, while apps are being utilised less than they were in 2024
  2. Most consumers would still prefer to be served by a person, although they recognise the benefits of tech-enabled stores
  3. Consumers are starting to use virtual assistants to search for information on retailers, brands and products, but very few are prepared to make purchases

From segmentation and customer experience to marketing priorities, the Consumer Compass provides fresh ideas that factor in current trends and long-term shifts in consumer behaviour.
