Survey of 2,045 British adults on behalf of Stagetext, looking at the British public’s awareness of services for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people at cultural venues.
British adults who report a disability are less likely than those who report no disability to attend each of the arts and cultural activities tested. Two in five (38%) who report a disability say they never attend theatre, while one quarter (27%) say they never attend cinema.
Familiarity with services to increase accessibility to arts and culture is low among British adults.
Familiarity is highest with hearing enhancement equipment such as headsets or hearing aid neck loops – two in five Britons (39%) say they are familiar with this service being available.
