COMRES / ITV NEWS POLL: THREE QUARTERS OF UKIP VOTERS AT EURO ELECTION SAY THEY COULD SEE THEMSELVES VOTING UKIP NEXT YEAR

The latest News Index poll conducted by ComRes for ITV News reveals that nearly three quarters (72%) of UKIP voters at the 2014 European Parliament election say they could see themselves voting UKIP in the General Election next year.

While a quarter (27%) of British adults say they could see themselves voting for UKIP at a General Election, 44% of the British public say they could never see themselves voting UKIP, with that number rising to 58% in Scotland.

Meanwhile, a third (33%) of 2010 Conservative voters could see themselves voting UKIP in a general election, compared with a quarter (25%) of 2010 Lib Dem voters, and 18% of 2010 Labour voters.

Around one in five (22%) people who voted for UKIP last Thursday have admitted they did so because they ‘don’t like the other parties’. This motivation is highest among those who voted UKIP (22%) and other parties outside the four main parties (25%). It is lowest among people who voted for the Conservative Party (12%).  Three quarters (75%) of people who voted for UKIP last Thursday say they did so because they are the party they agree with most, compared with 85% of Conservative voters.
