Following a survey of 1,002 British adults, conducted by ComRes, BBC Victoria Derbyshire Program has published research showing that 74% of British adults support the government setting maximum caps on private rent prices.
- Three quarters (74%) of British adults support the government setting maximum caps on private rent prices.
- Three quarters (76%) of British adults support the government regulating the terms of lettings (e.g. agency fees, drawing up contract, conducting inventory checks, deposits etc.).
- Similar proportions of renters and homeowners support the measures tested. For instance, 78% of renters support the government setting maximum caps on private rent prices, with 72% of home owners saying the same.

Methodology
ComRes interviewed 1,002 British adults between 13th and 16th October 2016. Data were weighted to be representative by age, gender, region and social grade. Data are nationally representative of all adults in Great Britain.
