52% of people support the government's spending cuts according to an opinion poll conducted for BBC2's Daily Politics programme, to be broadcast today at 12:00pm.
The ComRes poll, conducted the day after George Osborne had given his statement to the Commons, found that 13% strongly supported the cuts while 39% supported them. 24% of those polled opposed the cuts and 15% were strongly opposed..
In the same survey 39% said they believed the cuts in public spending went too far, 42% thought they were about right and 9% didn't think they went far enough.
Methodology Note: ComRes telephoned a random sample of 1003 GB adults on 21st October 2010. Data were weighted to be demographically representative of all GB adults. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
