A ComRes poll for ITV News/The Independent gives the Conservatives a four-point lead

 

The ComRes poll, broadcast on ITV News at Ten and published in The Independent, shows Conservatives on 33%, Liberal Democrats on 29%, Labour on 29% and Others on 9%.

 

This compares with figures from ComRes yesterday that put the Conservatives on 32%, Liberal Democrats on 31%, Labour on 28% and Others on 9%.

 

This poll gives Labour 277 seats - 49 short of an overall majority – Conservatives 248 seats and Liberal Democrats 93.

 

Looking at voting intentions based on gender: 26% of women intend to vote Liberal Democrat, compared to 33% of men; 32% of women intend to vote Labour, compared to 26% men; and the Conservatives rate 33% for both sexes.

 

Commissioned by ITV News/The Independent, ComRes also asked voters whether a hung parliament would affect their own financial situation, job prospects, overall quality of life or the way they felt about politicians. Overall ComRes found people are not frightened by the prospect of a hung parliament, but neither are they attracted by it:
