Water UK – public polling

Survey of the British public about their views and attitudes towards the UK Water industry

  • Approaching nine in ten (86%) of British adults say they trust the company that provides their water and sewerage services, whilst 14% say they do not trust their water company; these results are the same as those from August 2018.
  • British adults are most likely to support nationalisation in England for National rail services, with three in five (60%) saying they support this. Over half say they support nationalising mail and postal services (56%) and energy services (54%), and half say they support nationalising water and sewerage services (50%).
  • Overall, two in five (42%) British adults say they support the nationalisation of water and sewerage services in England, with 37% saying they oppose it. This is after having seen key messages for and against nationalisation, and shows a lower percentage support nationalisation after having seen these (42% vs. 50%).
