GBS Vaccination Survey

ComRes interviewed 1,013 GB women aged 18-44 online between 13th and 17th September 2013. Regional and age weights have been applied to the whole sample to be representative of all GB women aged 18-44. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.

 An online questionnaire was distributed to 1,013 women aged 18-44 in Great Britain between 13th and 17th September 2013.

 
Women were asked questions about three conditions: “Pertussis (also known as whooping cough) in newborn babies”, “Influenza in women while pregnant” and “Group B streptococcus (Group B Strep) infection in newborn babies”. Information about GBS was then presented and questions about vaccination against GBS repeated with an additional question about involvement in vaccine research. Respondents were also asked to rate the importance of immunisation advice from a list of sources.
 
Findings show that, despite the low level of background knowledge about GBS, a high proportion of women would consider having the vaccine in pregnancy and over a third showed interest in being involved in GBS vaccine research.
