EASYJET PILOTS EXPRESS WIDESPREAD DISCONTENT IN NEW OPINION POLL
Pilots flying for easyJet have expressed widespread discontent in a recent opinion poll for the British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA). easyJet, which has just joined the FTSE 100, has recently announced that it will be recruiting 200 new pilots, but BALPA believes the company should look at what its current pilots are saying, before patting themselves on the back about the company’s success.
In the poll conducted by ComRes, 93% of easyJet pilots surveyed say they are proud to be a pilot but only 29% would recommend piloting as a career to young people.
And despite the airline’s financial success, only a quarter of all flexicrew pilots surveyed think they will be flying for easyJet in 5 years’ time.
Methodology: ComRes interviewed 200 easyJet pilots on permanent contracts and 100 pilots employed by easyJet as “flexicrew” by telephone between 1st and 7th March 2013. The sample was drawn from BALPA’s membership. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
