BBC Daily Politics Results 26 February 2010

Less than a third of voters know, and like, what the Conservative Party stands for according to an opinion poll conducted for BBC2's Daily Politics programme, broadcast today at 12:00pm.

28% say they know what the Conservative Party stands for and like it, with 36% saying they know what they stand for but don't like it.  36% say the do not know what the Conservative Party stands for.

However, in the same survey, 41% said they would be happy for David Cameron to be Prime Minister with an overall majority compared with 34% saying they would be happy with Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.  When asked whether they thought David Cameron has what it takes to be a good Prime Minister, 45% said yes with 46% saying no.

The survey showed that the majority of people questioned (60%) believe the Conservatives are likely to win the next election.

The poll was conducted for BBC2's Daily Politics programme by ComRes.  They spoke to 1,005voters between 24th and 25th February 2010.
