The continued push for progress

In 2022 and 2023, Savanta sought businesses’ opinions on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues and topics. Concern was high and many businesses planned to take action, develop policies, borrow for ESG projects and/or invest ethically. However, only a minority actually had a sustainability policy.

A year on, and a tough year at that, what’s the story now?

In 2022 and 2023, Savanta sought UK businesses’ opinions on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues and topics. Concern was high and many businesses planned to take action, develop policies, borrow for ESG projects and/or invest ethically. However, only a minority actually had a sustainability policy.

A year on, and a tough year at that, what’s the story now?

We used our Business Tracker to survey 1,002 UK businesses (751 up to £1m turnover, and 251 £1m+ turnover) in April 2024 to get an updated view. Our report identifies:

  • Familiarity with ESG
  • Prioritisation of business challenges
  • How importance of ESG varies by company size
  • Action taken towards ESG
  • What’s next
