Research exploring business leader’s attitudes towards the impact of the UK’s post Brexit trade agreements on the public’s health
- More than three quarters of business leaders agree that leaders in the health community should have a ‘seat at a table’ in the negotiations of future trade deals, although two thirds (66%) say that there are more important aspects of negotiation to focus on than health and well-being.
- Business leaders are more likely to agree that public health rules, regulations and protections help to support the health and well-being of the UK workforce (87%) than they do for the people they work with and manage (85%) although three in five (61%) say that they do not go far enough in supporting the health and well-being of the UK workforce.
- Half (50%) of business leaders say that trade deals done by the UK government with another country after Brexit would have a positive impact on the UK workforce, whilst a similar proportion (44%) say that reducing the number of public health rules, regulations or protections would have a negative impact on the UK workforce.
- Half (52%) of business leaders say that trade deals done by the UK government with another country after Brexit would have a positive impact on the UK population, whilst a similar proportion (49%) say that reducing the number of public health rules, regulations or protections would have a negative impact.

ComRes interviewed 505 UK business leaders (managers and above) in businesses with 50+ employees between 21st and 23rd January 2019. Data were weighted by region. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
