Our appetite for takeaways also shows few signs of slowing down, despite the reopening of the high street.

Savanta's latest BrandVue report reveals the UK’s most loved eating out brands - with performance rankings from across all major categories – quick service restaurants, coffee shops & cafés, fast casual, pubs & bars and restaurants.

The consumer insight is drawn from the opinions of some 100,000 diners, through BrandVue Eating Out - Savanta’s market intelligence platform - the largest, most comprehensive brand and audience tracking engine in the market.

2021: A year in flux

The COVID-19 pandemic has had far more reaching consequences than could have possibly been imagined at the outset. A successful vaccination programme and the easing of restrictions have helped the UK back onto its feet, but the long-term impacts of the pandemic remain with us.

All industries have suffered in the past 18 months, but the hospitality sector has been at the forefront of the financial damage, with restaurants and bars forced to close for months on end as the government tried to control the pandemic.

However, that’s not to say there haven’t been some success stories. Those brands who innovated in the face of adversity have been able to adapt and stay afloat in the challenging market conditions.

The delivery market in particular has boomed as major quick service restaurant (QSR) chains have broadened what was once a relatively simple takeaway repertoire of curries, Chinese and pizzas into a much more sophisticated offering. And our appetite for takeaways also shows few signs of slowing down, despite the reopening of the high street.

Our brand new report takes a look at:

  • The Top 100 Most Loved Eating Out Brands league table, highlighting the risers and fallers compared to 2020
  • A breakdown of the most popular eating out brands across six sub-sectors including pub & bars, restaurants, coffee shops & cafés, quick service, fast casual, and delivery
  • A summary of demographic differences across both ‘love’ and frequency, such as age, region, and gender.

As customers once more continue to embrace eating out experiences post lockdown, albeit with some hesitation, let’s hope that this is the start of an eating out revival in the months to come.
